When friends ask how residency is going, I often pause. My go-to answer has been to say “it’s been a whirlwind!” Sometimes with a laugh, sometimes more seriously. It is true, sure, yet also a bit of an oversimplification. Because how do you really convey all the ups and downs, the amazing moments and the terrible ones, and every messy moment in between? It’s a year of residency, and it’s also a year of life. So much can happen in such an intense year. And then there’s all the years it took to get to this point, and the many years ahead, each filled to the brim with their own moments.

So I drew this comic as a reminder to be kind to ourselves, to celebrate our journeys - for all the hard-earned wisdom and battle scars and triumphs and dark moments and joys and community. Every part of it 🎢
